The theatrical phenomenon has presented itself not only in experimental or adapted spaces but also inside iconic buildings, designed by international star-system architects and causing impacts on the urban fabric of cities as a result of constructive paradigms introduced with late capitalism. Nowadays debates on the relationship between architecture and the theatre have expanded and involve not only architects and theorists but also philosophers, sociologists, and geographers.
It is a fact that theatrical architecture has recently undergone numerous conceptual discussions that we intend to deepen the same happening with the scenography, as the stage has become a space of relationships and juxtapositions since the world in the 21st century does not follow organized in sequential structures. We also intend to examine existing experiences of both Performance Design and more recent Theatre Spaces.
At the same time, possibilities emerged for the use and reuse of deactivated cultural heritage as a means of artistic practices, a fact that gives sustainability to the environment.
The Laboratory of Theatre Space and Urban Memory Studies and the Postgraduate Program in Performing Arts invite to the fourth event that will take place from July 25 to 29, 2022, entitled the Fourth International Conference on Architecture, Theatre, and Culture, virtually, in UNIRIO. The Conderence aims to offer researchers and professionals from different cultural backgrounds a wide range of discussions and debates on the three selected disciplinary axes that relate to research developed in the Laboratory: Theatre Architecture (but also the relationship with the city and the found-spaces); Theatre (Scene, Scenography and Artistic Practices), and Culture (in this Conference focused on studies on Cultural Heritage and Urban Memory).
We expect that this fourth event will allow us to follow previous discussions and translate the current aspects of the art in the different fields that interfere and collaborate with the Processes and Methods of Construction of the Contemporary Scene and to the issues of Cultural Heritage. We highlight the great opportunity this Conference will provide for the new generation of researchers and students from the three areas of knowledge, who will hear and make first-hand contacts with the international researchers who will participate in this event.
In addition to the keynote speeches of renowned international and national scholars on the topics prioritized by the Conference, Round Tables, selected Communications Sessions, and videos interventions on the three axes of the Conference will be presented. During the Conference, there will also be exhibited: a medium-length film developed at the Laboratory on industrial heritage and artistic practices, short videos, and the launch of books, which will be on the opening night and after the main Keynote Speech.
APRESENTAÇÃO
O fenômeno teatral tem se apresentado não apenas em espaços experimentais ou adaptados, mas também em estruturas icônicas, projetadas por arquitetos do star-system internacional e causando impactos no tecido urbano das cidades como resultante de paradigmas construtivos introduzidos com o capitalismo tardio.
Os debates contemporâneos sobre as relações entre arquitetura e cidade foram ampliados e envolvem não apenas os arquitetos e teóricos da arquitetura e do teatro, mas também filósofos, sociólogos e geógrafos.
É fato que a arquitetura teatral passou recentemente por inúmeras discussões conceituais que se pretende aprofundar, o mesmo ocorrendo com a cenografia visto que o palco passou a ser um espaço de relações e justaposições, pois o mundo do século XXI não está mais organizado em estruturas sequenciais. Pretende-se também examinar experiências contemporâneas tanto do Desenho da Cena quanto dos Espaços Teatrais mais recentes.
Paralelamente, emergiram possibilidades de aproveitamento e reuso de patrimônios culturais desativados por meio de práticas artísticas, fato que confere sustentabilidade ao meio-ambiente.
O Laboratório de Estudos do Espaço Teatral e Memória Urbana em conjunto com o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes Cênicas convida para o quarto evento internacional que realizará de 25 a 29 de julho de 2022, o Fourth International Conference on Architecture, Theatre and Culture, de modo virtual, na Unirio. O Congresso tem como objetivo propor a pesquisadores e profissionais de diferentes origens culturais uma ampla gama de discussões e debates sobre os três eixos disciplinares selecionados que se relacionam com as pesquisas desenvolvidas no Laboratório: a Arquitetura Teatral (mas também as relações com a cidade e os espaços encontrados; o Teatro (a Cena, a Cenografia e as Práticas Artísticas) e a Cultura (neste Congresso voltada para os estudos sobre o Patrimônio Cultural e a Memória Urbana).
Espera-se que a realização deste quarto evento permita dar continuidade às discussões anteriores e traduzir o estado da arte nos diferentes campos que interferem e colaboram para o desenvolvimento dos Processos e Métodos de Construção da Cena Contemporânea e para a questão do Patrimônio Cultural, destacando-se a grande oportunidade que este congresso proporcionará para a nova geração de pesquisadores e estudantes das três áreas do conhecimento, que terão a condição de ouvir e fazer contatos em primeira mão com os pesquisadores internacionais que participarão deste evento.
Além das Conferências de renomados estudiosos internacionais e nacionais dos temas priorizados pelo Congresso, serão apresentadas Mesas Redondas, Sessões de Comunicações selecionadas e vídeos de pesquisas de não-doutores sobre os três eixos do Congresso. Durante o Colóquio serão apresentados: um média metragem desenvolvido no Laboratório sobre patrimônio industrial e práticas artísticas, pequenos vídeos e o lançamento de livros, que será na noite da abertura e da conferência magistral.
